05/02/2003 Entry: "Getting a dog!"

[Previous entry: "bridgestone commerical"] [Main Index] [Next entry: "Macy Coupon"]

Me and my brother finally made the decision to get a dog :) We've wanted one for so long, and now there is a reason to get one. My mom is always bored at home by herself, getting a dog will get her mind off a lot of things and make her feel more secured at home with a watchdog running around. This will also encourage her to do more exercise like walking, she is always at home, this will be good for her.

Now the question is, what kind of dog do we want.... :) I'll go to the pet store today and check it out. So excited! In a way, this is my childhood dream come true. I've always wanted a Samoyed but I know my mom don't like big dogs, and Samoyed can get pretty big.

My family has 4 puppies (everybody liked a diff. breed). They are all from Serramonte Pets. Every one of them has a great personality and are very healthy.

Thanks Serramonte Pets

Yesterday I was watching the animal discovery channel and so many doggies were giving birth to these pups....so many puppies....there were like 6-9 litters for each pregnancy. And one of them was very interesting because there was a guide dog who got pregnant and all her pups got adopted into these families. They can only keep the pups for 2 yrs because they need to bring it back to the guide dog school so these dogs can be trained.

Getting a dog is actually harder than I thought. Man, this is going to take some time.

Don't you know puppies from shopping centers are raised in puppy mills? Haven't you seen the stories done by 20/20 and other news stations showing the cruelty that occurs in puppy mills? If you buy one from a shop, then you are only promoting animal abuse. But what the hell do I know. hehe. I adopted a puppy from the SPCA like ten years ago. Too bad they don't have puppies anymore as you said. Maybe the humane society has some. Also, if you watch the news once in a while, they show you some puppies that will be up for adoption. I think on Fridays on Ch. 7. They might have changed the day now though. Also, a lot of foundations in the Bay Area have puppy adoption pages. I remember browsing on it a few months ago. I'll let you know when I find out.

Wow...how exciting! Yup, you should get a small doggie for your mom. Let's go swing by Serramonte later to see if they have any new pups. They always have these cute pups but I just think it's kinda expensive. Maybe you can go check out some breeders??? Too bad SPCA don't have puppies anymore...all they have is big dogs that ppl dont want =(
