Another interview today...and I was worrying about it all day yesterday and this morning. I kept on waking up during the middle of the nite...thinking I'll be late and miss my interview =(. I just have this fear with interviews since they always ask you these general and hypothetical questions...that I really can't answer. So what happen was, I made it to my interview a half an hour early...went in...and was interviewed for a whole HOUR with three ppl. They just went in circles...taking turns to interview me...leaving me nervous as HELL. GOOD thing was, this interview is with ppl I already know since they only work right across from my cube =P I guess I did ok but wasnt too sure.

Hmmm...couple of hours later my phone rings and it's the interviewer....HORRAY!! They want to hire me for the purchasing/accounting position. It's a lateral transfer so everything is the same...meaning pay and benefits..but I guess that's ok as long as I have a job. Dude, what great relief! Now I just have to worry about finishing up my final research paper which is due tomorrow and I am all set for GRADUATION!!!! Congrats to ME =]

Congrats, Cat! I'm happy for you!
Welcome to the working world...waking up early and staring at the computer the whole day. :)

Haha, yup, but he was getting into all the technical shit about the number of functions in perl, and other similarities such as easy to use, easy to learn, you can attack a problem in all different sides as all sides of the sword is sharp and on and on, I went idle after a while. Haha.

I don't know how a sword can be compared to Perl directly, but I can compare it to programming languages in general. The sword can be used as a tool for dividing and conquering. Break up a large problem into sub-problems that are easier to work with and are independent from the methods. Personally, as a CS major, I would use the sword to slice and dice up all the stinky people and dorks in my classes. jk.

Thanks Everyone. Wow, those are weird questions....mines haven't been that hypothetical..they were just really general.

The weirdest question I got was, if you were to compare the programming language perl to a sword, how would you describe it.

I said no matter what I said, it wouldn't be the answer you are looking for, so how would "you" describe it? I can sure learn a thing or two since I am not a programmer nor am I applying for a programming position.

He came out and admit that was a bad question to ask, but it was a cool question with a really cool answer. And then he described it to me, which does sound very cool, but I can't remember a word of it. Hahaha.

Congrats, cat!! Did you try to negotiate for more pay? Doesn't hurt to try.

hey, I'm gonna try Nan & Curry tomorrow. Are they good?!?!?

Congrats on your new job and graduating. I was just wondering what the weirdest hypothetical question you guys have ever been asked during a job interview. Once I was asked, "if you could be an animal, either a bear, lion, dragon, dog, etc., which would you be"?

I said something stupid like, "I would be a dragon so I could slay myself." Cause of my screen name, which they already knew of. Well, in the end they didn't hire anybody, and went broke as a joke a couple months later.

Thanks for believing in ME! Ahh...I don't about liking it there...I have heard so much complain about the boss and job....but yeah at least same location so I dont have to go far. Hmm...Nann N Curry? Nah, I can't have lunch with them anymore cuz I have to work FULL TIME now =( no more Flex time where I can call in sick or take days off whenever I want....FULL TIME jobs SUCK!

Thanks Stella. Yeah...I'm so glad I didn't have to go through another interview or had to wait long for them to call me or write me. Yeah I am a psych major but its difficult looking for any jobs right now....so Im just settling for whatever I can get. It's only going to be for a year or so before I go back to grad school so it'll be ok.

- girl @ 05/20/2003 07:36 PM PST

Congrats!!!!!!!!! I know that job was yours for the taking. I hope you like it there, new boss, new everything but at least same location :-) You can still have Nann and Curry with Clifton and Danny ;)
