Aloha! We are back from our week long vacation from Oahu. It was absolutely amazing!!!!
Places we visited:
Ala Monana Shopping Center: This place was HUGE...240 stores..might even be more. We didn't really go into store to store...just kinda checked out what was in there...lots of the same stores which we have here.
The Dole Plantation: We took the pineapple express train ride for a tour of the planation and after we chilled at the gift shop to have a pineapple/mango soft serve, pineapple juice, and freshly cut pineapple tray =P YUM
Pearl Harbor: Seeing the remains of the USS Arizona Battle Ship and the Memorial built on top of it was a very moving experience.
Polynesian Cultural Center: MUST SEE! I got the Ambassador Luau Package for Franks Bday. We had a personal tour guide who made us shell leis and got us great seats for each tour. There are 7 Polynesian villiages where you can learn a little of each with demonstrations and presentations from the natives. We also saw a Canoe Pagent where they wore the brilliant colors of their culture and danced on the canoes. At the Luau Buffet...there were about 600 guest and I am very amazed in how they were able to manage to feed so many people in an orderly fashion. The food was very delicious too. And at the end of the day we had a Pineapple Deelite Dessert while we watched the show "Horizons, Where the Sun meets the Sky"
Waikiki Beach: There was a lot of people there and the sand was very rocky but it was still very gorgeous. This is the first place I have ever gone into the ocean..I had lots of fun...especially when we were hitting the waves while I floated on an innertube =)
Hanauma Bay: The best known Snorkeling place...I must say I tried but before I can even go out far...I twisted a nerve on my thigh while I was testing out my snorkel gear. I was in so much pain I thought I was going to Die out in the Ocean. Frank, however was able to snorkel out really far and saw lots of fishies and reefs (when I was hanging out on the beach, I saw so many people with cuts and blood running down their legs because they were cut by the reefs...so scarey).
North Shore Beaches: They were nice but not as nice as Hanauma Bay....
Let's talk about my most favorite topic...FOOD!!! Ooohh the food there was unbelieveable...it was soo good and I was so surprised when I saw the variety of selections we had. We had Korean BBQ, Japanese Ramen, Japanese BBQ, Burger Place, Hawaiian Luau, and even the food in the food court was really good.
We took lots of pix and videos so when we get a chance to upload them...I'll let you guys know.
Mahalo!
